On commence rarement une histoire en faisant mourir son héroïne principale, et pourtant Miku s'étant fait violemment renverser par une voiture, son destin est désormais tracé. En veut pour preuve le beau shinigami qui vient d'apparaître et qui lui met la chaîne thanatos au poignet. Grâce à cela, son âme est reliée à celle de Miku et il l'emmène dans l'autre monde. Il y a juste un petit problème, un bug informatique a visiblement condamné trop tôt la jeune fille, elle doit retourner sur terre en embarquant avec elle le shinigami à l'autre bout de la chaîne. Ainsi enchaînés, ils sont obligés de cohabiter alors que l'un et l'autre doivent continuer leur vie d'avant, sauront-ils s'adapter ?
